Expanding and Uplifting Senayan Square’s Business Operations with Convenience and Practicality: NSIDN’s Mobile Application Development
PT Senayan Trikarya Sempana (STS) is a joint venture established by Kajima Overseas Pte. Ltd. and Badan Pengelola Gelora Bung Karno. STS specializes in real estate management and oversees the development and operation of Senayan Square, a multipurpose development situated in one of Jakarta's most affluent neighborhoods, Senayan. Senayan Square encompasses a shopping district (Plaza Senayan and Plaza Senayan Arcadia), residential areas (Senayan Residences), office buildings (Sentral Senayan Towers I, II, and III), and a hotel (Fairmont). The company’s headquarters are in the Sentral Senayan building.
As STS continually expands and evolves to meet the trends and needs of modern society, they are striving to streamline their business processes through digital transformation. This follows the trend of technological development and the post-pandemic demand for retail businesses to digitalize their business operations, becoming easily accessible anytime and anywhere through the convenience and ease of mobile phone applications.
Prior to engaging with NSIDN’s services, STS had already begun implementing two major business initiatives: the Plaza Senayan Sportshub service and the overhaul of the current manual Plaza Senayan elite membership systems. In parallel, they were transitioning the system to a digital platform accessible via mobile application to overcome the limitations of the existing manual process, which required on-site administrators with restricted operational hours.
The digitalization process utilizes several cutting-edge tools, including:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): Hosted the cloud infrastructure of the server, application framework, and database.
- Flutter: Mobile application development for both Android and iOS.
- Spring: Backend applications, serving as the administrative portal for maintenance.
This project is guided by a comprehensive roadmap divided into three major phases, each designed to introduce key features within the application. Tailored to STS's strategic business plans, the delivery of these phases ensured smooth integration into their operations.
Phase One focused on creating the foundational mobile application and its initial features, including the SS membership and running station functionalities. NSIDN also developed and deployed the core server app and its infrastructure during this phase. Spanning approximately five months, Phase One culminated in the official launch of the Plaza Senayan mobile application.
Phase Two, which lasted around three months, enhanced existing features, introduced the elite membership feature and added advanced content management and business intelligence capabilities to the server app.
Phase Three covered a two-month period, adding functions for the Fairmont Jakarta hotel facility.
The final product, the Plaza Senayan mobile application, is available for download on both the Google Play Store and the Apple Store. Features include elite membership, Sports Hub and Senayan Square privilege membership. Promotional events in Plaza Senayan and tenant communication channels are also featured in the app. This project offers to enhance the Senayan Square experience, blending convenience and modern technology to meet the evolving needs of its users.
The go-live phase of the project's first step was marked by the official release of the Plaza Senayan mobile app on the Google Play Store and Apple Store, where it has been available for free download since 8 October 2023. The second step, introducing the elite membership feature, went live on 14 May 2024. The third phase, introducing the Fairmont Hotel functionality, was launched on 18 September 2024.
NSIDN is now fully responsible for the Plaza Senayan mobile application’s annual technical services. With STS's continuous business expansions, numerous potential opportunities for additional features and additions to the mobile application are anticipated in collaboration with NSIDN. This ongoing partnership promises to further enhance the app’s capabilities and user experience.
To get to know more about one of Plaza Senayan’s most well-known recent business expansions, NSIDN had the opportunity to converse with the manager and project overseer of PS Sports Hub, Mr. Aristides Wijaya Taulu. In March 2023, the business was first proposed by corporate planning director of STS Mr. Tetsuya Koizumi, who saw a new opportunity to create a hub dedicated to local joggers in the Gelora Bung Karno area and its surroundings that serve as a strategic location for morning and evening jogs. It was inspired by the concept of running station facilities in Japan, and was eventually adapted into a more unique, local-sounding business concept called the sports hub. The name change was made to be more inclusive of other kinds of sports, with joggers as the primary market. The business went live on October 2023, under the name Plaza Senayan Sports Hub; namely the first that uses the concept of running station facility in DKI Jakarta area.
PS Sports Hub’s integrated mobile app features were released simultaneously alongside the business’ grand opening back in October 2023, featuring an all-in feature of membership, payment and reservation systems. “We see this mobile app feature as a great investment to our business, as digitalized system allows the management to minimize possible human errors and offers both convenience and accessibility to both staffs and consumers alike,” said Mr. Aris during the interview. Aside from reducing manual administration workloads and errors, all relevant data and reports can also easily be generated through this system. Throughout their business operation, Sports Hub management have recorded around 130.000 visitors and more than 30.000 members registered by December 2025, exceeding average visitor and membership numbers in Japanese running stations. During peak months and hours, queues can be very packed, with maximum of 390 daily visitors recorded in May 2025.
During its launch, PS Sports Hub has established several notable brand partnerships, namely with Asics, Pocari Sweat, The Body Shop, Unilever, and many more. Today, the company is leveraging their current strategic positioning and location in Jakarta to explore more business opportunities, while still observing the recent sports-related trend developments in society. Looking ahead, PS Sports Hub’s management is eager to collaborate with NSIDN to enhance their platform’s quality, improve existing features and introduce additional utilities to their mobile application.
